Freeport, ME, 7/20/23 — Maine Optometry is thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. Melissa Young, O.D., a highly accomplished optometrist, to its team of exceptional eye care professionals. Dr. Young brings a wealth of valuable experience, expertise, and compassion to the practice, further enhancing Maine Optometry's commitment to providing exceptional, comprehensive vision care services to the community.

Dr. Young has already been serving patients at Maine Optometry community for many years, initially working as a technician at the practice before pursuing her education in optometry. After completing her bachelor's degree at the University of New England, she earned her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Graduating summa cum laude, she received clinical honors during her third and fourth-year rotations.

Dr. Young has gained valuable experience at notable institutions such as the Eye Institute in Philadelphia, where she focused on primary care and fitting specialty contact lenses, and Eyesight Ophthalmic Services in New Hampshire, where she specialized in primary care and dry eye treatment. She also received extensive ocular disease training at VA clinics in both Lewiston, Maine, and Manchester, New Hampshire, where she focused on glaucoma, macular degeneration, and overall systemic health.

Dr. Young is a member of the American and Maine Optometric Associations, the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society (GKIOHS), and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society (BSKIOHS). She is committed to dedicating her life to academic excellence, research advancement, and the pursuit of knowledge in the field of optometry.
